For the late August weekend trip to The Craven Heifer in Stainforth on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, near Giggleswick. I decided to break the trip at a truckstop so I could stay off the motorways (mostly) and explore.I was rewarded with some interesting riding through the underrated countryside and interesting small towns of the Welsh Borders and English Midlands.
Blithfield Reservoir and early morning mist... Hollingworth LakeT
The camping field was an easy walk from the pub with dramatic scenery and a collection of 'modern classic' cars.
The excellent late summer weather encouraged a relaxed attitude.
We hear a tale from an experienced rider that after minimal research when selecting a route he found the Hardnott pass the most challenging surfaced road he had ever ridden. While some went to see the famous Ribblehead Viaduct or into Settle a lot of us walked up to the Catrigg Force and Stainforth Force.
