We were made welcome at the Prince of Wales, they even left a bonfire for us! Amazingly this was still smouldering after the Halloween event the weekend before, the steel frame was the legs of a wicker man!
The big attraction this weekend was exactly that - The largest WW1 aerodrome (Stow Maries) only a short walk or longer ride away.
Little more than the buildings survive but the enthusiastic team running it have created an excellent museum.
The aerodrome is operational and houses an interesting collection of flying replicas.
Relaxing in the pilot's mess after the guided tour.
The sun shines over South Woodham Ferrers as we approach and then cross country back to base as dusk approaches. More good food and drink consumed as we continue celebrating three members birthdays.
