2020Force10 004Mild weather resulted in a record turnout for the Force Ten Rally held in Warwickshire (over the first weekend in January). I had a very slow but warm ride down the M6 to arrive early afternoon on Friday and there was already a good 50 or so on-site. By night-time the camping field at the back of the Green Man was full and the car park full of bikes. Not all were using their winter bikes either and several 18 and 19 reg machines were parked up as well.

2020Force10 005The other 5 local pubs were soon full of visitors as we went in search of food and more beer. Nigel Green got the adventure prize though with an Apple Crumble and Salted Caramel PIZZA! at the Harvester. Back at the Green Man, the hot water urn was being well used, Caroline was busy selling Raffle Tickets and Paula was booking everybody in and selling T-shirts.

2020Force10 006On Saturday following a very welcome breakfast at the Green Man, exploring was the order for the day and the canal walked by many. Rob Hunter actually managed to fall in but was expertly rescued by Richard and David.

Dick Allen also had an incident requiring a fresh pair of undercrackers (but he had forgotten to pack any). However, ringing your so-called mates who were on a bus to Leamington Spa and asking them to discreetly purchase you a pair was probably not such a good idea if you wanted to keep it secret.
Saturday night was also spent visiting the various pubs, talking nonsense and planning future trips. There was a free buffet at the Green Man and the trophies were awarded and the raffle prizes given away. We raised £200 for the Warwickshire Air Ambulance so well done for everybody who purchased tickets and to Caroline for organising it all and selling the tickets.

Prizes went to:
  • Long Distance Male Kenny
  • Long Distance Female Mairi
  • Long Distance Overseas Steve B
  • Best Bike James Eastwood (BSA)
  • Worst Bike Redditch Dave
  • Tale of Woe Richard Allen for the second year.

Finally, I would like to record our thanks to Mark who has welcomed us to his pub for the last 14 years or so, as he is retiring in April and moving out of the village. The Rally brings much-welcomed income to the whole village each winter, and hopefully, we can continue under new management.
